Clearing

All products traded on EPEX Spot are cleared by ECC AG .

ECC AG is a privately owned stocked corporation under the laws of Germany with its office in Leipzig. ECC is the counterparty of all trades and manages all defaults that may occur at no financial cost for other trading members.

More precisely, ECC performs all activities encompassing the daily balancing of profit and losses, the daily calculation of collateral requirements and final physical and financial settlement.

ECC relies on an infrastructure of 14 international banks operating as Clearing Members. Exchange Members can be active on the markets managed by the EPEX Spot SE either as a Clearing Member or as a Non-Clearing Member. Clearing Members are obliged to fulfil all financial obligations arising from the matching of orders or OTC transactions entered by themselves or by their Non-Clearing Members.
